Big Horn #29 – Big Sky, Montana
Frequently Asked Questions
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, Master Card, Cashier Checks or Money Orders.
How does the Damage deposit work?
We will ask you to authorize $300 towards a Damage deposit 7-10 days before your scheduled arrival date. Using the credit card this will be an “Authorize Only” procedure. We will not “charge” the $300 or any portion of the damage deposit unless something is amiss after your departure, and after we discuss it.
Once you vacate the property, the property manager inspects for damage, and the house cleaners let us know if there were excess cleaning charges. In most cases, if you treat our property as if it were your friend’s second home, you can expect your deposit to be returned. See our rental agreement for further details.
What is your cancellation policy?
More than 60 Days Prior to Occupancy: To cancel a confirmed reservation, you must send, and we must receive, notice in writing, via certified mail, more than 60 days prior to the scheduled check-in date. If notice of cancellation is made and received sufficiently under this subsection, you shall receive a refund of advanced rental payments less the following: $250 cancellation fee.
Within 60 Days of Occupancy: If you cancel a confirmed reservation within 60 days of the scheduled check-in date, with the exception of the security deposit, we shall not refund your payment unless the property is subsequently re-rented by a different party for all or a portion of your occupancy period. All refunds under this subsection shall be paid within 30 days of our receipt of the re-rented deposit payment.
Please see our rental agreement for further details.
How far are you from the Bozeman (BZN) airport?
About one hour drive (depending on the weather). If it’s snowing allow an extra 30 minutes. There are shuttle services from Bozeman to Big Sky. We can recommend Karst Stages for a shuttle service.
How far are you from Yellowstone?
We are about 18 miles as the crow flies and a one hour drive to the West Yellowstone park entrance.
Flights to Bozeman are expensive. Are there any other airports which are within driving distance?
We have found that the least expensive days to fly into Bozeman are Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Or, you can try Idaho Falls (2.5 hours) or Billings (3 hours). Flights to Billings have been cheaper recently on Frontier Airlines. You will need a rental car as there are not a shuttle services from those cities to Big Sky. However, there is a shuttle service within Big Sky.
Do you have any specials?
Contact us for last minute specials.
We encourage you to compare our rates and amenities with those offered by Big Sky Resort; www.bigskyresort.com.
In renting Big Horn 29 you can see photos of the actual condo in which you will be staying. And, unlike the Resort, we do not add an additional 7% service charge.
Sending packages in advance
If you have a large box of supplies that you’d like to ship via UPS or FedEx, I can provide you with an address. Our property manager will have your package waiting in the foyer for you, upon your arrival.
Questions/Emergencies while in residence at Big Horn 29
We have a wonderful 24/7 property management company. If you have any questions about anything; internet service, good restaurants, any issues that arise, call our property management company and they’ll answer your questions, or come to the condo to take care of the problem as best they can.
But, you’re always welcome to contact us as well.
Is this ski-in/ski-out?
Our front door is conveniently located about 50 yards from the Bear Back Poma lift. The poma lift is a short 2 minute ride to the bottom of the Silver Knife run that leads to the base area. To ski in, ski down Silver Knife then turn right at the poma lift.
Do you have wireless internet access?
Yes, there is Wireless Internet service in Big Horn 29.
Do you have a hot tub?
Unfortunately the Big Horn owners association does not allow outdoor hot tubs. I can tell you where there are hot tubs. The Moonlight Basin Lodge spa is available for use by the day or week. The Moonlight Lodge is about 2 miles from our place and is on the free shuttle route. The weekly rate is good for up to four people (they do not have to be from the same family).
You can purchase day passes to the work out facility/hot tubs at the Shoshone Hotel and the Moonlight Lodge.
Pets?
Sorry, but in deference to guests with allergies pets are not allowed.
How do I check-in?
We will send you a Check-In Procedure with the specific address, unit number, and door code. In the event you experience any problems, we also provide you with 24/7 phone numbers to our property management company.
Are there grocery stores in the area?
The Country Market and The Hungry Moose Market are located in the Meadow Village of Big Sky. Both have websites and delivery service (~$20) so you can order your groceries in advance.
Hungry Moose Market - http://www.hungrymoose.com/
I can also recommend stopping into a grocery store in Bozeman to shop before heading up the canyon to Big Sky. There are several grocery stores, including Albertsons, Town & Country Foods, Rosauer’s and a Super Wal-mart.
Linens
We provide an abundance of linens and plush towels for our guests. If during your stay you would like to change your linens, you are welcome to do so. There are extra linens in the closet, but please launder the ones that you take off the bed, and put them back into the closet. Laundry soap is provided for your use. If you would like additional house cleaning while you are there we can put you in touch with our cleaning service.
Kitchen
We have tried to stock the kitchen with everything you can possibly think of for your stay; from cookie sheets to wine openers, various spices, paper towels and aluminum foil. Of course, we have very large coffee mugs. We have found that our guests are very generous. When we arrived late last season to ski, the many previous guests left all sorts of goodies; we had various canned items in the pantry, popcorn, hot chocolate, unique spices and a wonderful variety of hot teas.
We have a new Keurig coffee maker, you must bring your own little coffee cup things to use with it, and we have a very large crock-pot.

Restaurants in Big Sky Montana
Big Sky also means BIG food. There are many options for dining in Big Sky that will satisfy any palate. Below are just a few of the great Big Sky restaurants:
Bucks T-4 Restaurant: This is fine cuisine with a stellar wine list is a must-dining experience. I can recommend Buck's T-4 for dinner one night. It's pricier, but they serve local cuisine. They have a van that will pick you up for dinner, as Buck's is located in the Meadow Village. Check their website for specials http://www.buckst4.com/
Half Moon Saloon: A real Locals Place. Turn right at the Conoco on Hwy 191. The owner Kyle serves up great BBQ. Try the brisket. http://www.halfmoonsaloon.net
Corral Bar: A Locals Place. Turn right at the Conoco on Hwy 191. Friendly service, great food, and a casual atmosphere make The Corral a local favorite. The Corral considers itself one big, happy family. This is a great way to experience Western Hospitality the good, old-fashioned way.
Rafting – We can recommend Montana Whitewater. We can also recommend a Zip Line experience with this company. We did the “Zip and Dip” package; Ziplining in the morning and rafting in the afternoon.

Snowmobiling - We can recommend
Rendezvous Snowmobile Rentals, Inc.
Reservations: (800) 426-7669

Shuttle Service - I can recommend
Karst Stage
www.karststage.com 511 N Wallace Ave Bozeman, MT 59715-3777 (406) 556-3500
* Sometimes I find a good price renting a car using Priceline.com.
* Karst might charge you a grocery store stop. There is an Albertson's in Bozeman.
* If you have an early morning flight out of Bozeman I would recommend using the Karst Stage shuttle service and not a car. But that's a personal choice. Being from Florida I don't care to drive in snow and ice.
I hope this proves to be helpful information…..Lisa Smoak (Big Horn 29)
